Gobble, Gobble
This Florida pelican has met with success in his fishing expedition.
Florida Sandpiper
Sandpiper in Florida. I just saw some Washingto sandpipers a couple of weeks ago at the Nisqually Wildlife Refuge.
A little bit of Poeish Abstract
Statuaries and birds, especially crows in cemeteries, make for some interesting subjects. I’m a fan of genealogy research as well as a storyteller, and reading tombstones with names and dates, and inscriptions is inspiring and emotional on so many levels.
Photography, for me, is also a very creative endeavor as I play first with exposures on manual settings for different effects. And then also in the procressing. I’ve always liked a more surrealistic, somewhat abstract image, depending on the subject matter.
Power Outage
Deal with a power outage one day this past winter. Oh, what to do. Well, go to the park, of course. Steller’s Jay and Mourning Dove.
Varied Thrush
I did eventually make it to the park. Here’s a varied thrush, which I’ve not seen there before.
Unducks
Decoys along the trail. Wetlands mean stumbling upon interesting and surprising sights along the trail.
Black Cayuga Duck?
Black Cayuga Duck or perhaps a variation thereof. In the sunlight you can see the subtle nuances of coloring with hints of green. A domesticated duck breed, in the U.S. since c. mid-19th century.
Steller’s Jay with a touch of color
A Steller’s Jay checking out the world below. Just a glance over his shoulder. And a mix of cheerful yellows and greens and ribbons of blue. Angles and curves, shadow and light.
Named for the German naturalist, Georg Wilhelm Steller who first saw it in Alaska. c. 1741.
